The cutest and pinkest kobold girl to ever live in the state of New York! Used to go by the name Skylar. She/fae, 28, and pan. Taken, with @musekat.bsky.social !
Well, that's a lovely situation to be in.
I hope that once Biden accepts the nomination next month, this will stop.
Probably not completely, but it should be at least clear to those who are actually serious that this is the hand we have to play to keep Trump out of the White House.
Even so, Clooney hasn't expressed any interest in running for office.
I'm pretty sure he's a donor to the Democratic Party, but a donor isn't like a shareholder in a company. They don't answer to him.
Biden? Not really. What happened was that all of the centrist candidates dropped out of the primary before Super Tuesday and endorsed Biden, and the progressive vote got split between Sanders and Warren.
In THIS case, we're talking about replacing the *presumptive nominee*. That's pretty different.
With some of the fantasies they've been pushing out, I do have to wonder if some of them know absolutely NOTHING about how securing the nomination works.
I feel like this all comes down to misconceptions about how the DNC works. I swear that a lot of people think that the DNC is some Elder Council of the Democratic Party that can just go "Ah-ah-ah" to Biden and dump him in favor of somebody else.
Begging and pleading progressive folks to stop spreading the bullshit lie that voting doesn't matter or is flat out rigged every time I hear an otherwise smart left leaning person say this it makes me want to eat my poli sci degree and shake them violently.
Biden said he's not stepping aside, so unless the ENTIRE party wants to unify and ask him to step down TOGETHER, these "no confidence" stories from individual Dems have to stop. It's doing more damage than the debate could've ever done by itself and it's providing attack ad material for Trump.
This is doing more damage to Biden's chances than the June 27th debate could've ever done by itself.
Biden said he's not dropping out, so what do these "no confidence" stories even accomplish besides providing attack ad material for Trump and the GOP?
The only hope we have left is that there's enough Americans out there in the swing states that are willing to put their dislike of Biden aside because the alternative is far worse.
So, it's very clear that that talking point about the media "having a liberal bias" was all that it took to completely gut the effectiveness fourth estate in this country.
If I didn't know better, it looks like all of the papers are auditioning to be the official state paper under Trump 47.
They're outright manufacturing consent for American fascism now with this "He made the trains run on time!" drivel.
I am so tired of people with ZERO skin in the game being in charge of what gets published.
The constitution is just words on a paper, and it means whatever the Nine says it means.
For instance, far-reaching restrictions on speech and expression were commonplace in spite of the 1st Amendment until about the 1960's.
I don't know if there'll be anything left to save in 2028 if Trump wins.
I'm glad that people are waking up to the dangers of Project 2025, but even then, I don't know how many people realize that this plan threatens to completely change life as we know it in this country.
A LOT of movies, TV shows, video games, books and music will get caught up in these bans.
"Project 2025 is not targeting βpornographyβ as something thatβs harmful to children per se, but rather redefining anything concerning sexuality and gender that they say is harmful to children *as* pornography." - @melissagiragrant.com
Granted, this happened because Manchin was the one sold us out. But it still confirms my feelings that the Dems don't have it in them to have these yearly budget fights and will eventually cave and agree to whatever horrible things the GOP wants to shove into spending bills.
I usually use this place for art and shitposts, but I'm also an American and regrettably Election Stressβ’οΈis beginning to take over, sooo, sorry if that's not why you're here and I *do* try and keep it to a minimum but sometimes I panic post about it π
i will never stop being furious at large language models being successfully branded as "artificial intelligence"
they're not conscious & functionally can't be; they don't "hallucinate," they fail to generate appropriate outputs
There's also the fact that if everybody is convinced that Trump is a shoe-in, that might make people stay home. Not playing to win makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I don't know what mechanism people think exists that can force a candidate who's already won the primary to drop out. Especially considering how he's the incumbent president.
Do people think the DNC can just declare that Joe Biden is no longer the Democrats' candidate or something?
Biden said he's not dropping out of the race and I don't think there's any way to force him to drop out. So, this is the hand we've been dealt, and I'm not convinced that a lot of powerful people want to even TRY to win with it.
What are we even DOING here?
Like, I don't think Biden should be running, but he said he's not going to step down and as far as I know, there's no way to force him to. So, at this point, the question is, do we want to try to win with the hand we have? Because I'm not sure if a lot of people want to.
These are the parts that are going to make oligarchs swing the election for Trump, by the way. They don't give a shit about the Christian fascist culture war stuff. We're just collateral damage in order to assert employer's rights to put Running Man collars on people being paid '80s minimum wage.
the Democratic response to the last time they were completely wiped out in Presidential elections (e.g. Reagan/George H.W. Bush) was to move right with Clintonian triangulation
there aren't a lot of things I'm sure of in politics these days, but "Dems will move right if wiped off the map" is one
