The fact that the Overton window has shifted so much that people think this is within political bounds is what concerns me the most. They are effectively declaring that democracy is for suckers.

If you are going to be protesting anywhere near the Republican National Convention, write the NLG number on your stomach in Sharpie (not your arm: cops use that as "evidence of premeditation"). They are fucking superheroes. Give them money to keep being superheroes: www.nlg.org/donate/

Traumatized for life though. My Grandmother saved every scrap and refused to throw things out due to her childhood during the Depression.

The thing that worries me is I took care of three elderly people whose grasp on things gave way to dementia closer to the end of their lives. So what I've seen of Biden seems awfully familiar to me, even when he has teleprompters and is giving great speeches.

I kinda feel like now that the Supreme Court has declared it legal for a president to straight-up murder people they don't like, it's probably even more important to not elect people who seem extremely inclined to murder people they don't like

Judging by my interactions with people both in and off social media, virtually everybody is very unhappy with the Supreme Court's immunity decision. Even my 95 year-old grandmother is angry.

When I was in basic training, most of the other kids with me were not politically aware at all. The few that were swung to the left. Once I was done, there was a lot of heavy recruitment of the same kids by religious orgs like the Mormons, and those people virtually always ended up on the right.

It occurs to me that Biden could just start ignoring Supreme Court orders because he has absolute immunity for his official acts. Let's see how John Roberts and his compatriots handle that.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.

In the past, I would have thought that the American public would have reacted with total revulsion to the concept that a President is above the law. Today - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Days like this I think as a lawyer, what the fuck are we doing here. It's all just raw power disguised as law. And it happens whether you are the President or a pauper, only the latter is seldom protected by the law.

So I guess the President can order Seal Team 6 to murder a U.S. Citizen and since that's a core part of the President's Commander-in-Chief power, he is absolutely immune from prosecution for doing so.

Congress could completely override most of these decisions but since they favor the party of obstruction, what incentives are there to change things.

What about "put on your grannie panties?" Because that means you can just lounge around on your porch sipping out of a large cup of gin and juice that you are pretending is just fruit punch. Bonus points for telling kids to get off your lawn.

I’m a huge fan of the people he chose to help him run the government. And that when he’s been called on to make decisions at the top, he’s made a lot of good ones. I still have some skepticism in my heart about him because of his decades of lawmaking in areas that really hurt some people.

Personally, I think people scared of an open Democratic convention overestimate the support that Biden has. This isn't a situation like Obama/Clinton when some people swore they'd never vote for Obama if Clinton didn't win.

Even if the House only doubled in size, to 870, we'd still be a lot more representative than we are now.

The Constitution would still be workable had two things not happened: 1) a bunch of "states" filled with no people got established in the west, with corresponding representation in the Senate; 2) the House hasn't expanded its size since 1913, even though we now have 3.6x more people than in 1910.
