His refusal to do exactly that is maddening to me. There's nothing inherently perfect about the size of the court we have, and given the fact that it is CLEARLY divided by ideology. There should be no political slant to interpreting the constitution.

Great assessment. I dare say the days of exceptional people in government are largely behind us, and that's sad. We need good leaders who can challenge and inspire us to look hard at our own thinking and open ourselves to different ideas. What we have now are partisan shepherds dividing the flock.
