*gestures at *who* the progressives under attack are and mumbles the same thing I always mumble under my breath about how maybe there is something additional going on here*
Oh believe it. This and the policing of 'who is a Jew' that somehow always ramps up around some kinds of Jews and not others. This kind of Jewish establishment does not deserve a penny of credit for Heschel marching with King 500 years ago.
Does AIPAC have any pull whatsoever with rank and file Dem voters? Everyone knows it’s a right-wing evangelical Christian group, right?
I’d see an AIPAC attack on a candidate as a good reason to vote for them.
Well, for what little it’s worth, Jamal Bowman reps my district, and he’s already got my vote primarily because he’s been, to date, unwavering in his calls for a ceasefire.
It's also sadly POC who are the loudest voices against the atrocities in Gaza. Seems like Rahshida and Ilhan have a lot of support but others are more vunerable
Yes! Exactly this! Everyone AIPAC is prioritizing attacking and trying to remove from office happens to not be white. They are specifically targeting many Muslim, Black, Sikh, and Indigenous people politicians, and trying to replace them all with White people. Its white supremacist racism!
100%. The white nationalists smell an opportunity to clean house. They've already tested the waters by getting a Black university president to resign in disgrace. They're not subtle.
Reminds me of this I saw earlier today, interesting choices by National Review for which Columbia professors to mention by name. Gosh, can't tell what Kimberlé Crenshaw, Olatunde Johnson, and Kerrel Murray have in common. twitter.com/joshchafetz/...
Gonna buy the most expensive bottle of champagne I can get my hands on if/when non-Black journalists finally starts connecting the censure of people criticizing Israel to the larger conservative backlash against the modest gains Black progressives made in the national imagination in 2020.
