I’ve been saying since last year that Biden should drop out to let Harris be the nominee. And I worry that if they wait until October they’ll look back fondly on July as the time they really could’ve acted.

Lunch time in the London financial district is just millionaires getting wasted before gambling with other people’s money afterwards. I guess the cocaine in the office gives them some balance.

Yeah true. Centrist libs use "leftist" as the same catch-all for anyone they don't like the way that the right uses "woke".

Aaron has mistaken his clips and videos for Doing Politics, and online leftists can seem powerful. Dude should maybe try to organize a union drive or even just get a beer with normie libs right now. This is not a leftist worry about Biden, it is universal.

I don’t know how many times anyone can explain that Joe Manchin did 1000x more damage to Joe Bidens presidency than anyone on Chapo. No one on the left has any power! We can’t throw anyone out!

Massive political miscalculation and systemic rot within the Democratic Party is clearly the fault of online leftists. Pod Save America is as rusted on Dem as they come and even they have said this shit with Biden is bad. How much cotton wool does one need over their eyes?

Centrists are like the moral peacock trying to tell you incrementalism is good while watching everything be wound back to the 1800s because of incrementalism in the face of actual social danger. Everyone from the actual fascist right through to centrist Democrats all punching left, always.

I think saying the left is pretty reductive, every point on the political spectrum falls for one crazy thing or another. BlueAnon, Russiagate etc etc. The internet has blessed us all with a reactive paradise of faeces.

Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

Mississippi is the poorest state in the US.

Even though the state gets federal welfare funds, it is difficult to get welfare.

The money was all getting stolen, and they got away with it.

Now the journalists who exposed the story are facing a lawsuit and jail.

Why to read past headlines: Receipts! I show both how Republicans make excuses for their party by exaggerating their "fear" and downplaying their yearning for a fascist dictator.

I also show how giddy they are at the prospect of a Trump unleashed to kill.

Imagine being a centrist common sense Democrat who was scolding anyone mentioning Biden in a negative light saying any opposition to Biden was tantamount for a vote for Trump about a week ago and now being like “well Gavin Newsom would have been great but now we need solidarity”

The 14th Amendment says if you were involved in an insurrection you can't be president. SCOTUS said they won't allow anyone to enforce that because of reasons they made up. The Constitution doesn't say the president is immune from criminal law. SCOTUS decided he is because of reasons they made up.

So, how does the market react and firms protect themselves when, in the largest economy in the world, an impervious unitary executive can surveil, seize, liquidate, or destroy whatever they want, whenever they want? Especially when that unitary executive is prone to petulant dumb fucking beefs?

There are two elements to the immunity decision that are particularly extreme in a way that many will miss: (1) motive is irrelevant and (2) immune acts are not just excluded from prosecution, they’re excluded from evidence. /1

Being in the ‘20s sounds so weird. It's so synonymous with the 1920s. Sounds like a long time ago when women were fighting for their rights, the upper classes were living a life of hedonism and hoarding wealth, while people starved & the world was on the verge of economic collapse and war. Wait

And they want them to die where they won't have to see it. It's sad to see what's happened in San Francisco, a supposedly progressive city. It's tragic how many people there don't see unhoused people as human. They resent them for making them feel bad.

It’s hard not to see the election media coverage as a performance of, for, and by a very specific set of people who ostensibly spend their days trying to understand the motivations of The Common Person but who really just want to dictate to them how they should feel and act.

The thing about the end of Chevron for environmental and natural-resource regulations is, every env policy person has a personal rage list of half a dozen regs that bend over backwards to accommodate polluters. With agency deference gone, it's time to sue for strict interpretation of env law.
