You don't have to wait until Halloween to dress up as a mummy. You can just do that now and wrap yourself in bandages and wander around and vomit swarms of scarabs on people. You don't need October for that. You can turn their blood to black ichor with fell magicks in July. You're an adult, it's ok.

The only two pieces of writing advice I consistently give are: 1. Write worse. Lower your standards as much as necessary to get the words on the page. 2. Finish writing before you start editing. It doesn't work for everyone, but it's the only approach that has ever worked for me.

We need a word for thematic & dramatic games that are not "narrative" or "storytelling" as they've come to mean in the #TTRPG space. More in the classic sense of tabletop "storytelling" games [especially in the 80s sense, but better engineered than the stereotypical 90s model].
