What? No it wasn't. A bunch of people warned about exactly this, before it happened, and then AS IT WAS HAPPENING. People just… kept pretending that the dude who conned them hadn't conned them and was, in fact, a super genius, instead of taking the fucking L and holding him anything like accountable

Without even clicking the link, I’ll guess the reason — all the talk of racism makes white kids feel guilty. Again, if your kids are reading histories of slavery or segregation and identifying with the racists in the story, that suggests you’ve got your own problems to work through. Leave us out.

people always attribute the spike in autism/adhd diagnoses to more people learning about it But maybe the demands of capitalism skyrocketing over the last century made it harder for ND people to meet the definition of "functioning" & when your functioning is impaired, you get evaluated for shit

For at least the first half of his first term, he didn’t just want bipartisanship, he was insisting on not moving until he had it. He didn’t bank on how cynical McConnell was, which was a fatal mistake

Obama’s mistake was insisting that things be bipartisan. He insisted on having Republican buy-in for far too long before he understood the futility of that notion

One of conservatives top priorities is denying kids the message that they have control over their own bodies and their own sexuality because that makes it harder for pedocons like Trump to get away with raping them

"The detailed plans for authoritarian theocratic takeover we wrote for Donald Trump, in consultation with Trump advisers, which Trump staffers are promoting, have nothing to do with Trump," implore authors of Trumpist authoritarian plan. "We fear if Americans hear about it they'll oppose him."

What's fun about this - I know we're all terrified of the creeping doom, but here's a little fun - media-facing Republicans other than Trump will absolutely not let Project 2025 go. They won't disavow. It's gonna be "no it's good actually."

Trumpism’s rise and Project 2025 are both manifestations of the same underlying radicalization of long-stranding anti-democratic tendencies and impulses on the Right. Project 2025 is evidence of how far the Right has radicalized, how far beyond Trump the problem goes.

To call the Roberts court “a conservative Warren court,” and thus suggest a false equivalence on how the two exercise judicial power, misses that one was up against entrenched racism, defiant states, and no democracy. The only thing the Roberts court is up against is … a slightly modern society.

My other major concern- this is going to be close, and SCOTUS is not giving up their Dobbs or Chevron victories; that’s what the immunity decision signals. If it comes to them, Trump wins. Winning by a small margin is not enough; we need to maximize our potential vote, and I don’t think that’s Biden

Theyre not who I'm worried about; its the undecideds/3P voters that worry me. Running a candidate who appears like he's declining doesnt seem like the optimal way to persuade them, & I say that understanding that Harris has her own electoral problems, & that runnin anyone else is absurd @ this point

Just last week, Biden signed H.R. 2365, the “Dr. Emmanuel Bilirakis and Honorable Jennifer Wexton National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act,” which would be a part of stories like this if the journalists writing the stories were ethical. That they conceal this context speaks to their abject malice.

these stories served their purpose, allowing the GOP to shift the terms of the 2021 and 2022 elections away from Covid and the recovery to favorable ground of "crime." Now that the narrative is collapsing, conservatives just retreat to a new battlefield of their choosing and the press follows.

How does blowing up a children’s hospital in Ukraine—which isn’t in NATO—protect Russia from NATO? How is killing a bunch of kids who were far from military activity about security, not brutal aggression? Do Putin defenders and apologists who ape the NATO excuse hear themselves?
