But no...instead we get this boring WaPo piece that makes the same argument I heard as an undrergrad in 1988.

is torture an official act? are war crimes? both are criminal under U.S. law. what happens to presidential command responsibility? also, if POTUS is immune from prosecution, there is no complementarity. the court has made it easier for the ICC to pursue cases ag american presidents.

"The dems didn't fix everything the reps broke, so lets put reps back in charge." I've not seen even 1 GOP presidency where fiscal, environmental, social and political equity didn't devolve during their term. Not one time. It *should* be a no-brainer to never give office to the GOP again.

I'm pretty sure they meant that there was no expertise on those subjects at that time, at all, just like the members of this court don't have that expertise today. I read it as a condemnation of the court, not exculpatory.

I did not watch the debate. From my perusing here it seems it was a boring old man with a stutter, too concerned with detail vs an old, jacked up, liar. Same ole, same ole. I'll still be voting for the blue policies in November.

We got tricked by science fiction into thinking a futuristic city is all about flying cars and crystal towers and hologram billboards but what it really looks like is nice apartment blocks, good mass transit, pedestrian zones with shade trees and safe bike lanes.

I always took that phrase to mean that if something odd came up, could one take care of it, or not be able to. Can I afford a vacation this year? Fridge broke? Do I need a loan to replace it or not? Alternator went out? Credit card or cash? Kid got a cough? Am i eating less to afford tussin?

Everyone i follow is center or left of center. One side of my feed is lamenting algorithms being restricted from minors and another side of my feed has complaints about targeted advertising. Minor example of why the left constantly fails and the right's consolidation nets dividends... smh

And that needs addressed too, but you can't say the 24/7 availability of the most shallow and negative aspects of our society doesn't have impact. Academic studies show more than just casual relationships between depression and social media. Again, the derision toward it is unnecessary.

More die annually of suicide than car accidents. Reasons vary but it matters. Depression is real, same as car accidents, same as pollution, same as Christian nationalism. It all needs addressed. Multiple things being bad doesn't mean you're not being callous here, now.

12.8/100k motor vehicle deaths total in the US in 2022. 2/100k for 10-14yo child suicides the same year. 14/100k for 15-24yos. How many alcoholics and drug addicts because of depression due to socials that that won't include? I know it's directly unknowable, but I think you're being callous here.

I've been wondering what the venn diagram would be for: 1) who depends on others not breaking the law, 2) who chooses to break the law for lack of enforcement, 3) who makes/lobbies the laws, and 4) who the laws affect. I imagine high overlap of 2&3 and 1&4, but not much between those groups.

I think they might try, soon realizing they don't understand logistics or consequence, so pack them into "labor camps" to "save" business and economy. Many will die of disease, malnutrition, and revolt. Then, when others ask questions there will be some final solution to hide "incompetence".
