I am so sick of white people leading these thought exercises about Black people being brutalized in a parallel universe. Black people are being brutalized RIGHT NOW for merely existing.
"There was a collective gasp and murmur in the cavernous convention centre..."
Of course there was because who thinks of this? And then says it out loud? This helps exactly no one. Well, maybe racists.
Ugh.
It feels like it is much more about reinforcing their own sense of comfort and superiority than anything else. They assume people will have to agree if they state it often and strongly enough.
I call that tactic the Hypothetical Over the Here-and-Now. @theferocity addressed it succinctly in this exchange that I have bookmarked for reference whenever it raises its ugly deceitful head: (apologies for lack of ALT. Can someone tell me easiest way for ALTing something like this? TY!)
Not just brutalized by cops, brutalized by cops empowered by Democratic mayors. Democratic college administrators. Democratic pundits.
All while Biden calls these protestors violent and antisemitic.
This man has no shame.
Black gentleman here. I'm pretty confident Black folks, of any hue and from anywhere, would never, ever have stormed the United States Capitol building en masse. Like, ever. Same with any other grouping of people you can think of except MAGAts
Trump is a dumb racist fascist a-hole and Biden cares more about Black votes than he does Black voters. His crime bill ravaged a generation by disproportionately imprisoning Black people. Every 4 years Black voters save America from its worst natural instincts and in the end get the absolute minimum
You know what we do know? How the government treated black protestors at things like BLM at the similar times, and Biden's response was 'we need more cops, actually. Maybe just shoot the protestors in the legs though'!
Biden being more interested in some navel gazing straight out of comic books instead of the issues in front of him that he can actually affect this very moment seems extremely in character for him.
Gotta love this back handed soft bigotry of such a low expectation that Biden immediately thinks "oh what if it was black people rioting on J6, huh?" Why are you immediately making this linkage, Joe?
Did he forget that the BLM movement happened or...?
(It wasn't a riot but I digress).
It was a level of dissent that got pushed back hard
Also, didn't someone get pardoned recently for running protestors with their car (and killing someone) in Texas?
Trump isn't the Boogeyman for black people
