there is absolutely room to criticize terminally online folks who argue posting is praxis. however, twitter taught me what i need to know to escape a cult and access HRT. reddit cracked my egg. twitter and bluesky helped me reconnect with my jewish heritage. it’s a mistake to write it all off.

Just fwiw, the DC Statehood and Puerto Rico statehood movements are quite a bit different. There are a lot of people in Puerto Rico and in the diaspora who want Puerto Rican independence, not statehood.

I could possibly see that, and some people who talk about prison abolition specifically do not broaden it out sufficiently IMO. I have “abolitionist” in my bio, and what I mean is abolition of all systems of hierarchy, exploitation, and domination, not just prisons.

My personal feeling is that in cases of sexual assault "I'm going to wait to see what else develops" is a fine, but if you loudly announce that what you're seeing is inadequate and not enough and should not be believed by anyone, that's not waiting to see what else develops.

It used to be that replies to a thread would not pop back up onto your followers' feeds if they were made later. so the twitter expectation of "this new reply will pop back up in my followers' feeds" didn't hold. So a habit developed of quoting your own posts to add new info
