anyway I can’t think of any way that unceremoniously ejecting the incumbent Dem president from the ticket, four months before the election, with no agreement on a successor, no process to pick one, and most people pushing the idea assuming it WON’T be the vice presidents, could possibly backfire
It’s absolutely absurd and it’s extra wild because this is gonna be one of those events that breaks the Dem-NYT partnership or at least dramatically redefine it. No Dem administration moving forward will go to them or make them a special exception. All of this for what, for a 72 hour fuss
But that’s kind of the point isn’t it? Everyone around him knew how bad he was and hid it until now. And now we have no options. People get to be angry at that and to try to find a different solution.
Part of the problem is that the dems long ago pushed away the kind of people that might have been able to change this trajectory because they were a potential threat to existing institutional arrangements that donors favored. So they now have nobody else to choose that would likely do any better.
Do you read the stuff you write before posting it, Will? How did such nonsense ever get so normalized?
How do you ignore so many plain facts in favor of more and more spin?
Yeah let’s run the guy who couldn’t speak during the debate and is on pace to lose the popular vote as a D for the first time in 20 years. That’s the plan. Cool.
It was a fine conversation for May (of 2023). I wonder if David Axelrod could get some more of those "Pricks for Biden" buttons he got when he had his little meltdown a while back. Would be a good fundraiser.
It seems to me the only viable path would be him voluntarily taking his name off the top of ticket, Harris moving up and Harris announcing a VP pick. The brokered convention stuff is not viable.
You're correct, it's insane. Apparently someone needs to put smelling salts in the water to get these people through the next four months. Meanwhile, while the self-indulgent commentariat hyperventilates, armies of volunteers will be knocking doors and working to get out the vote.
I actually feel like I’ve lost my mind here: does it strike anyone this might be a severe overreaction to the very old president looking very old during literally the first half hour of one debate?
put it this way: they could pull it off if they had their act together. But the fact that they are in this situation at all, suggests very strongly that they do not
