I'm teaching 4 weeks of the 6-week KINES 100 summer course (philosophy + history sections), and we just finished week 1 today in the philosophy section. All my grading is up to date. Neither Max Verstappen nor Lando Norris won the Austrian Grand Prix after the two came together in turn 3 with 7 laps remaining, but they were undoubtedly the two fastest drivers at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday. As McLaren continues to close on the Red Bull, the rivalry should only get more intense.

Lady was champing at the bit to get outside for a walk. My knee started acting up last night when I came up the stairs from the basement, so we kept it short and mellow (only 40 minutes and 1.3 miles). Of COURSE the pup still had to chase after bunnies in the park. Time for some ibuprofen.

Okay, I took a half hour to complete a required info security online training that was required by Penn State as part of my job. I had until July 26 to get it done but figured I might as well knock it out right away. Just waiting to hear back from my co-instructor, but otherwise I'm DONE for today.

I started my day at 6:00 am entering & submitting final grades for my 1st summer course. I took an hour walk w/Lady from 6:30–7:30, then got back to work on my 2nd summer course. That means I've put in an 8-hour day. Really tempted to call it good, since I'm set for the 1st day of class tomorrow.

I'm teaching the first 2 weeks (philosophy) and the last 2 weeks (history) of the KINES 100 summer class that starts tomorrow, with a 2-week break in between for my co-instructor to cover psychology of human movement. All I have left to do for the first section is pre-schedule Canvas announcements.

All of this. I am committed to tackling this in academia however I can... mostly by reverting back to analog technologies and project-based classroom assessments that circumvent the temptation to lean into AI tech. Is it perfect? Hardly... but I also think that students appreciate the effort.

In the races since Miami, when McLaren introduced its big upgrade, they've been fastest across 4 of the 7 stints with representative data across constructors (i.e. where teams followed the same strategy & went on the same compound at the same time). The gaps are closing heading into the summer.
