The press keeps saying there's no hook to turn Project 2025 into a daily story. But if the below is true here's a hook... Trump denied knowing the people behind Project 2025 and here he is caught pledging to bring one into his admin. How is that not a breaking story?

I understand what's at stake. I don't think it's clear that staying the course is less risky than making a huge change. Examples of this type of changing the ticket close to elections are not successful ones. Also while he's running this is the only story for the media. Either is uncertain outcome

If you live in N. America, food you eat is probably grown in the orange “major heat risk” strip in California's Central Valley. The heat threatens crops, farmworkers & our entire food system. This is our planet at 1.2 degrees of warming yet California is STILL approving new oil wells. #ClimateSky 🔌💡

It's not every day that senators ask the attorney general to appoint a special counsel to criminally investigate a sitting Supreme Court justice.

What's more, the case against Clarence Thomas is quite credible. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Criticizing journalists is not only not illiberal, it's necessary. Arguing that the press shouldn't exist or should be restrained by the state (which is the Trumpian position) is illiberal.

okay that's it, fuck it, i've seen one too many of these craterbrained "criticizing journalists is illiberal" takes and i can't fucking take it anymore. it is not in fact a violation of Liberal Fundamentals to tell journos that they fucking suck when they manifestly fucking suck. next question

NYT says their performance on Threads today was an aberration, & not indicative of deeper problems they've had with social media. Unfortunately, that hasn't satisfied many observers whose concerns are growing louder. The stakes are too high. For the good of the news, the Times should step aside

Project 2025 is the closest to a Republican Party platform. And it's entirely about how to use the executive office to wield authoritarian power to control people's lives; to create concentration camps for brown people who they will assume are immigrants; and control over people's sex lives

Where is the wall to wall outrage and coverage of a major political party having no policy solutions for health care, housing, education - except for stopping to fund it, transportation or climate change. Where is the @nytimes.com editorial bemoaning that?

The Republican party went into the last election with no party platform. Today it's ideas are using the executive office for and authoritarian takeover and real puposeful human cruelty. The closest out has to governing ideas is the horror of Project 2025. I have her to see front page news about that

This is also part of how the actual differences between parties are hidden/undermined. If the federal gov actually passes policies/funding to feed your family and your GOP governor refuses it on your behalf, you're not getting it. Who did what can feel pretty irrelevant. Your kids are still hungry.

They don't want Biden in, as a person who used to specialize in research on this they want to prep a narrative for the fall of a technically illegitimate election. It's not a move to stop it, it's a move to delegitimize.

I keep saying it. The @nytimes.com model as exemplified by its political coverage, editorial, and comments from their management is to troll its readers for outrage clicks. Only liberals, centrists to center leftists read the NYT. They want clicks by telling you what you believe is dumb.

The BBC was in one constituency where the party in power, Conservatives lost 22% from the last election - that happens when voters are pissed. Labor stayed the same, Reform Party captured only 15% of that loss Lib Dems and Greens captured 7%. That is the more surprising part. #UKElections2024
