From the story, here's a guide folks in Canada put together on what to ask at risk folks (including elderly) during high heat, both if you're in-person or afar. Rather than asking if you're ok, you can ask "how are you sleeping?" and "what's the temp inside?" www.bccdc.ca/about/news-s...

I learned so much in the reporting of this story, but the piece I can't stop thinking about is how older adults "don't sense heat in the same way," according to UOttawa's Glen Kenny.
In other words, the elderly can't easily self-identify harmful heat.

Older adults (roughly 65+) are highly at risk of extreme heat today. This is a problem that will intensify in the future, as temperatures rise due to worsening climate change *and* the aging population gets bigger.

I still can’t quite fathom that people have multiple beef meals per month, let alone week or day. But if you eat it at all, this is good advice. Such an easy way to make a positive difference!

I'm not usually a "this one weird trick" type of person but given that beef production accounts for *nearly half* of US diet-related GHG emissions and land use, eating less beef and more of just about anything else (except lamb and goat - similar resource requirements) can make a big difference. 🧪
