For me Schulz's greatness is tempered by the many years of middling work he did starting in the 1980s. But most strip cartoonists run out of gas at some point (or go quite literally mad) and he had a longer peak than any US cartoonist I can think of.

Also, he's loathe to let go bc nobody likes Harris. Nobody. But she can be sidelined at an open convention, and a ticket consisting of a woman and an African American man can do a better job bearing the standard than even her.

After the disaster that was last night's debate, I think Biden really should withdraw from the race (citing health) and the Dems should hold an open convention. (Think of all the free airplay that will get.) My top choice for the ticket would be Gov. Whitmer, with Rev. Warnock as VP. Do it, Dems!

Apparently it WAS regional! I just read that pockets of opposition to the all-number dialing shift beginning in the 1950s meant some cities took decades to switch over... NYC held out until the late 70s, Philly until the early 80s. That's wild.
