The only way to take the party left, BTW, because I know whose saying shit like this, is to retain power, take more, and obtain a greater voice for that wing of the coalition in a government they helped create. There's no universe where a loss takes this party anywhere but to the right.

I have been surprised by the number of times I have had to explain to people that going from three part time jobs to one full-time job is a good thing. “But job losses!”

Is it okay for Supreme Court Justices to get a bunch of expensive stuff from billionaires for free? Democrats say no. Republicans say yes. Let’s have the debate. Make it an issue in this election, various views weigh in, then the people decide.

Funny what happens when a reporter actually decides to talk to rank and file Democratic voters instead of panicked backbenchers or smug elite donors.

"What the report finds is that Biden held on to 94% of the people who said they would support him before the debate. For Trump, 86% of people who said they would support him before the debate said they would do so after the debate."

More on that “peace” agenda. Medvedev: “Even if Ukraine surrenders the territories we claim and renounces NATO aspirations in exchange for a peace deal, sooner or later we would still have to put the nail into the coffin of Ukrainian statehood and return the rest of the country’s lands to Russia”.

i just can’t get over how much of the elite political discourse right now is focused on scenarios that very few people have actually attempted to work through and prove, the whole discussion is happening in a complete void of actionable facts and insights, driven by extremely questionable polling

Been saying for years now: media trips over themselves to cater to Republican messaging/perspective because Republicans labeled 'the media' as being liberal; the only way to show they're not liberal? Carry water for Republicans.

the entire replacement argument hinges on every would-be contender who is admired for their leadership and commitment to democracy being willing to override the primary results, double back on every single public statement they have made, and shiv their competitors on a moment’s notice

something bitterly funny and enraging at the same time about the mayo-brained centrist-as-affect congresscritters who have the least to personally fear from a second trump admin thinking they’re being brave by saying biden should step down when you compare them with the progressives and the CBC

There is an incredible contrast going on right now between people in power whose politics are based in conviction and people in power whose politics are based on trying to figure out where the wind is blowing, and it’s really exposing the danger of standing around with your finger in the air
