We've had intense downpours that have added a little bit to the level in this feeder bc the ports are so horizontal, but never ever this much. The storm just parked over us, but all that in 20-25 min? Yeesh.

I do wish we could post video here. The front edge of Beryl is making a dramatic entrance into Maine. We just had a 20 min deluge that managed to fill the hummingbird feeder thru the drinking ports. There were maybe 2 fingers of sugar water in there an hour ago. 🌿🪶

The failure points are making themselves known. Where I live, there are civic buildings like town halls & libraries that don't have generators so they can't serve as cooling stations when it gets bad.

I helped Dr. Lawson with a part of this research (our PhD programs overlapped)— she’d play the warbler’s “seet” cowbird-warning call, then 24 hours later I’d sit in a chair and watch the female warblers’ behavior at their nest before sunrise (when cowbirds lay their eggs), really pleasant work!

Went to a real live baseball game yesterday. Managed not to accidentally cheer when the opposing team did a good Thing. Fortunately, the opposing team did not do many good Things, while our team did very many good Things. Also they confiscated my sunscreen so today's freckles are abundant.
