And even if it were, it's then on you to prove that you're innocent. So you're presumed guilty until proven innocent.

trump would put the judge in the same cell just for fun while his Secretary of Defense, kash patel, put together a firing squad. 😟

The entire set of pro-arguments that people are presenting basically keeps boiling down to "It's fine because the system won't be abused." I mean, PEOPLE ABUSING THE SYSTEM is literally why we're here right now. We have over TEN YEARS now of watching a person abuse it at every step.

All the spineless Democrats know and revere is #legalproceduralism. It will work as well here under Trump ll as it did in Nazi Germany under Hitler.

This is insane. Effective habeas is already dicey; it ends under a Trump administration. Even if it wanted to rule against him, Trump will ignore even his own SCOTUS's orders.

Swings to left and right happen, but this lulls us into a "this too will pass" complacency. With authoritarian swings, rules change so we don't swing back. There's an argument that the new POTUS immunity allows emergency declarations and removal of opponents, so rule changes have already happened.

After the top secret Israel info shared with Russia in the oval office, telling oil execs he'll write laws they want if they donate 1M or more to his campaign (aka legal fees), and other classified docs in public washrooms - does the National Security Dept really agree with #SCOTUS?

Professional parochialism, borne of the smug, self-satisfied entitlement that is the American legal profession’s distinguishing characteristic, is a major reason it has failed so badly at defending American democracy.
