With alt-text because THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYONE’S EXPERIENCE & I FUCKING HATE IT. Being disabled is a godsdamn full time job battling different agencies all damn day. #NEISvoid
It's is..so ,mentally and physically exhausting when you only have so much energy to deal with these issues.been disabled since 2008,the hubs since 2002.now he needs a 🫀transplant& IM HIS CAREGIVER.I am burnt out 🔥
she's correct here but its funny because that person is no friend of disabled people, and in fact bullied one (me) when i mentioned I'd been discriminated against at a branch of her favourite union. The clout left are frauds imo.
yeah.. trying to talk about this occassionally before abled society makes me feel uncomfortable talking about things like this again.. shits fucked and too many people happily agreeing with that..
Took my wife two years to get approved for disability benefits through social security and we had to hired a lawyer to help. Cannot imagine how someone without a non-government support system is supposed to get through all that
Yeah, been fighting tooth and nail to try and get SSI for being disabled for the last 5 years and every step of the way they've denied us, and our medical providers refuse to write letters about our disabilities in support of SSI...
"But if we did that then everyone would apply. No one wants to work and we couldn't affors that."
Its just not true so many people actually like their work and want to do it.
Being forced to defend my status at a disability “reassessment” actively re-traumatized me. It was utterly degrading to have a PTSD panic in front of an apparently callous agent of a contractor specializing in finding people “no longer disabled”. Wrong diagnosis. AND I got “lucky” with the outcome.
I live in fear every day that some unseen invisible force will just decide I am no longer disabled even though I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna grow back parts of my brain
This extends to most benefits in the US. We are so afraid of helping someone who is “undeserving” that we waste an absurd amount of time/money trying to weed people out. But it just makes the benefits suck for the people who need it. It’s like we need people to feed bad for accepting them.
My wife's Social Security claim was denied, of course. So she attended some seminars and redid the paperwork and filed again, and was denied again. Then found out there are agencies you can hire to help you get approved. If we could afford to hire an agency for that we wouldn't need the disability.
This, and having to repeatedly report problems with accessibility before you even receive a response, then having to repeatedly report those problems again to get any sort of action.
Also just like "I'm radicalized about disability" (doesn't include alt text) like be better I'm sorry I don't usually shame people for this but all you had to do was copy and paste it and not rely on someone else to transcribe for you.
I am about to tackle some paperwork today, and boy does this track. It's gonna take me at least a week to complete it, and I'll be drained every time I finish another question/task.
Former marriage left we w/hyphenated name when applied that had changed by the long ass time they took to approve (rejected once) & they wouldn’t fix it so now my id & disability are slightly different and it’s a constant battle cuz ppl lazy.
& Y won’t they cover my head?! 🤦🏻♀️ Crohn’s is whole GI! 👄
Same exact situation here in the UK. Governments really making sure we know how much they'd prefer us to die and how reluctant the pittance they give us is.
Yeah, once you realise exactly how much is spent on this shit just to ween out less than peanuts from social security fraud, it really highlights how fucking nasty the whole business is.
