My mother died in a red state in January. It took us 5 months, a meeting with a lawyer, and probably 100 phone calls to get an accurate death certificate mailed to us.

In red, and even purple states, the lack of (what blue states consider) basic public services is astounding. When you elect people into government, that hate the government, you end up with shitty, corrupt, and dysfunctional government. It's insane.

It definitely shouldn't. man's whole life was ruined. We found this guy not guilty. It took us longer to fill out the paperwork than it did to reach the verdict. I was young, about 25 when this happened. I've never looked at our system the same since.

*If* you can afford bond. I was on a jury where the defendant sat in jail for 6 months awaiting trial, only for the state to produce experts that testified that: The fingerprints and footprints found DID NOT match those of the defendant. Police testified no witnesses saw the suspect at the scene.

To keep a steady flow of workers, they lobby for things like • abortion bans, • contraception bans, • lowering education standards, • keeping a college education unaffordable, etc. These things trap people in low paying, dangerous jobs, which means more profits for the shareholder class. 3/

• If the miner gets too sick to work, put his/her children and spouse to work. • Once they are working, they are trapped in the same cycle. • The mine owners lobby lawmakers to keep public services and social safety nets to a minimum. This keeps the desperation and financial instability going. 2/

To understand it you have to start with the basic Republican tenet that most humans are disposable. • As long as they can keep the workers hungry and desperate, they will be forced to keep working. • Our insurance is tied to our jobs so, if we are sick, we must keep working to have healthcare. 1/
