Yet another nerd on the internet.
Ask me about giant robot cartoons or obscure TTRPGs or kung fu movies or food history or sci fi/fantasy novels and I will talk your ear off.
Meanwhile, the gang's gearing up for a new D&D campaign, at which point I've decided to go with "Legally Distinct from Bilbo Baggins" as a character concept. As archetypes are there for a reason, I guess.

Because nobody asked for it, I'm gonna ramble about #RiverCityGirls2 . As it's a game that feels like it was made for me, specifically.
"Oh, you like Mega Ran? He's on the soundtrack. You main Jam in Guilty Gear? SHE MAKES A CAMEO."
Plus, y'know. Walk right. Punch dudes. Quite fun.

But the gimmick is, you don't have to declare exactly WHAT is in your load until you decide to use it. So if it's "oh hey, a grappling hook would be useful right now," and you have an open gear slot? You're good to go!
And if not, you just have to improvise. It neatly streamlines things.

It's a TTRPG and not a video game, but I always thought Blades in the Dark had a really novel take on this.
Basically, before a job starts, you declare your "load," which gives you a set number of inventory slots. The heavier the load, the more conspicuous you are.

This is a subtweet about Frankenstein because I don't want to be a dick, but I also want some facts out there.
1. Most novels at the time were anonymous. We can't make definite judgements about why Mary Shelley's name wasn't on it. It was common practice. The novel was barely respectable.

Thinking about how I've officially been at my current job for three years now, which may be the longest I've ever stayed at the same gig?
Probably not going anywhere anytime soon. Though if someone wants to give me a million dollars to talk about giant robot cartoons, I'm gone.

I mean, DS9 is easily best Trek (though Lower Decks ranks surprisingly well).
Ciaphas Cain's memoirs are one of the few sources of actual 40k canon, everything else is propaganda.
And yeah, RPM is the best Power Rangers (and the only one I really paid any attention to post 90's).

So if I'm not totally exhausted by work tomorrow, I'm gonna run the superhero RPG #ICONS again tomorrow. Neat!
I shall be introducing an NPC whose personality is basically "Teenage Zangief."
It is that kind of game.

In other news, a new season of Netflix's BBQ Showdown just dropped, and it's probably my favorite piece of Netflix's original programming.
Mostly 'cause it's basically the Great British Bake Off, only I have some idea what the contestants are doing.

I'm statting up pre-generated characters for the Icons (a superhero #RPG) game I'm running, and I can't help but put in utterly shameless jokes.

So there are different kinds of relics.
Notably, anything a Saint touched during their life can be a relic.
Which means that somewhere out there, there could be a RELIC NINTENDO.

Thinking about running #UnknownArmies for my gaming group.
The thing is, I've never actually played the game (though I've got the 1st ed corebook), and the game's so big and weird I honestly don't know what a "standard" UA game looks like?
Any suggestions/one shot ideas would be quite welcome!

It’s a long damn ticket to examine for your vote, just like you had last week. Nothing about Joe and that felon has changed. Eyes on the structural prize.

So I’m reading Anthony Bale’s “A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages,” and it’s depressingly (if unsurprisingly) Eurocentric. Like, I’m nearly halfway through the book, and I don’t think it’s mentioned Ibn Al’Battua even once?
When I can point at gaps in your research, you’re probably doing it wrong.

Like if you had told 5 year old me that, in the future, there would be a whole channel devoted to Transformers, he'd be more excited about that than the flying cars.
Which is something of a silver lining considering how cyberpunk dystopian the rest of the 21st century is.

Freakazoid is also only apparently shown 12:30 am Saturday mornings, so, uh, I guess that's just to cater to nostalgic weirdos who are up too late.
Also they have Go-Bots, of all shows-- which makes me think someone wanted to get Transformers, but this was all they could manage.

Meanwhile, digital channel MeTV now has a 'Toon' channel-- (Thankfully not called 'MeToon,' oof).
And it's kinda fascinating the random grab-bag of stuff they were able to license for cheap. The Real Ghostbusters, Johnny Quest, old Warner Bros cartoons, Popeye-- and Freakazoid!

The interesting part being, now that I'm discussing the show with other folks, there's one character who's universally loathed.
It's like "hey, welcome to the fandom. Also this dude sucks."
Like if Jar Jar binks was a sex pest.

So I binged the first season of #MyHeroAcademia over the last week, and it's pretty solid?
Admittedly, the show still has the same SHOUTY SHONEN DETERMINATION that ... kinda grates on me, but things get a lot more interesting once the story opens up and introduces a slew of new characters.

It still floors me that, back in the 60's, the Sonics released a song that was ultimately "HEY KIDS DRINK POISON," and it was a fukken banger.
(The Banana Splits footage is laid over the song after the fact, but it's still entertaining as hell).

Had a great crew of players who, while I'd never played with any of them before, were all on the same page in regards to teen superhero nonsense.
