LOOK AT HER. LOOK AT HER BLUESKY! Clearly based on the U Class, but adapted for Baltic ops. That's an icebreaker bow (which makes her lines filth af) and she's rigged for minelaying above and below, hence the sidepods. Her tail is pure U though. I would marry this boat. She is utterly gorgeous.

I CANNOT believe we didn't know this was here until the Finnish Defence Ministry tipped us off.

The Estonian Maritime Museum has an INTERWAR VICKERS-ARMSTRONG SUBMARINE!

To Dr Clarke's and my knowledge, this makes it the only surviving Brit-made period sub in the world youtube.com/shorts/cwNF5...

Or the similar problem that's now going to manifest with select committee chair roles. I was simply saying: "Here's the weird shit they need to unpick BEFORE they do a leader process, it's not simple". If i'd wanted to write a full piece on it all, i would have done.

I wasn't trying to do an extended discourse on the full issues or processes they need to go through. If i was, i'd also have talked about the problems of recruiting a new 1922 when you also need to theoretically cover all shadow minister posts.

I dispute a lot of his 'corrective'. I was explaining what the current rules are to highlight some of the complexities the Tories have to unpick now as they flip to thinking smaller.

The last Monarch to actually make it into the Commons was the current King's grandad. He was allowed to come in and look at the work to rebuild it after it was heavily damaged by German bombing. Parliament was sitting over the road at the time, so every agreed it didn't violate the agreement.

Indeed no MONARCH has been allowed in the Commons, while its sitting, since the English Civil War in the 1600s. Which was to a large part fought to make VERY clear to King Charles I who really ran things.

Yes. Indeed you can't hold a peerage and sit in the Commons. This was famously a problem for Tony Benn, who was set to inherit his father's peerage. Because there was (back then) no way to surrender one! The law had to be changed so he could do so, and this continue serving in the Commons.

My assumption is they'll drop the limit to about 25-30 for the next contest. But, if anything, the 15% letters thing is their bigger issue if they don't change it. So they'd be very silly not to sort that at the sane time.

But the rules right now are 100. As you say, they'll change them once they've sorted out a new 1922. But they have to do that before they can really contemplate a leadership election. Ultimately what i was highlighting is that AS IT STANDS the Tories aren't set up to be a small party.

In the foreword to the map of Ankh Morpork, the writer tells a story about Pratchett saying the first question to ask when designing a fantasy city is "How does the clean water get in and sewage come out?" What I have since realised is this also applies to designing aliens and fantasy creatures.

Interesting thread about procedural issues with electing a new Tory leader now that there aren't so many MPs left : (a) It now only takes 19 Tory MPs to trigger a leadership contest. (b) There aren't currently enough Tory MPs to nominate more than one leadership candidate.
