It is five years since the UK put net-zero by 2050 into law.

Prime Minister Theresa May, saw the Gorner glacier in Switzerland retreating on her regular hiking visits there. That visual manifestation of our warming world helped persuade her of the need to act.

And, now #ShowYourStripes goes to Hollywood...

Ozi will soon appear in cinemas!

The film, produced by Leo de Caprio, tells the story of an orphan orangutan whose home is destroyed by deforestation. Becoming an influencer, she travels across the forest to try and save it.

If only we had detailed information telling us the climate is changing far faster than any time in human history... ...and if only we had an unambiguous physical explanation for why those changes have occurred... ...then some politicians would still deny any problem exists.

A successful launch for the #EarthCARE satellite!

First conceived 30 years ago at University of Reading, it will gather vital information about clouds & aerosols which will help us improve weather forecasts & climate models.

Well done everyone involved!

The increase in UK rainfall is largely due to an increase in rain intensity, i.e. the amount that falls on wet days, rather than the number of wet days increasing.

A recent study found that last winter had ~20% more rain because of climate change.

We need to do 3 things about climate change: 1) Mitigate - reduce emissions 2) Adapt - to changes that have already occurred, those we are committed to, and those we choose to occur because we don’t mitigate enough 3) Suffer - because we don’t do enough to mitigate or adapt

A whole year of record breaking ocean temperatures.

This warmth has significant effects on ocean ecosystems. A large fraction of the world’s human population rely on protein from the ocean to live. Disruption to life in the ocean does affect us all.

If you get invited to review (yet another) paper, and can't do it, that's fine. But please do decline rather than just delete the email. And, if you can make suggestions for other reviewers it is much appreciated by volunteer Editors who have invited 20 people already.
