This is the second time this year I'm having to chase a publisher around for payment for a sensitivity read. It's fucking annoying as shit. You cannot say you care about marginalized voices and want feedback on manuscripts, and then dilly dally on payment.

They SAID they were going to address it & hired an archivist to go through the company records and make a full report. Then, after the report was done, they announced that they would not be releasing it publicly b/c they'd rather focus on the business than employees' personal lives.

Did I rewrite the first act of my book? Again? This is literally the 40th version of this book's opening chapters. But this seemed to work better. The things I changed meant a rewrite though. Hopefully Acts 2-4 go easier on me this weekend. *sobs*

i think the death of twitter is really depressing. i understand people's desire to find another place that will be like twitter but i don't think there ever will be on that scale, in terms of organizing and community building. i think that's sad. it also sucks for freelancers and content creators.

There WAS a fire on the 3rd floor but all OK now. No one hurt. Everyone evacuated. I'm back in my apartment now and kitten is doing well. Except for the part where he just learned to scale the baby gate while I typed this. That's going to be a problem.

Was at the barn to take care of horse on a cold cold night, and decided to check on sick kitten with kitten spy cam, which is how I heard my building's fire alarm going off. Which was extremely alarming! Nerve wracking. I had no idea if everyone was OK until I got home 45 minutes later.

This is an especially ugly situation because rural communities count on mail for things such as meds, since they have no pharmacies, and companies such as Amazon to supply them with goods they can't access in Town/via other retailers, so there's just an avalanche of deliveries.

I think we might be able to get away with regular clinic tomorrow. I texted rescue person just to verify. He's definitely under the weather, but he's old enough that he should be stable at home tonight. Got a little food into him and he's sleeping on a heating pad right now.

Books that are too overwhelming to look at in a whole word document, books that I need to rearrange pieces (so books with multiple points of view, nonlinear, and/or containing interstitials with journals/articles/etc) generally work in Scrivener.

If you're in the Philly area, my OTHER foster cat Marcus also deserves a home! He is just the easiest cat and I'm shocked he hasn't been adopted yet. Declawed, 14yrs old, super chill, wants to be an only pet! He loves hanging out and loves people so much. Very cool lovable weirdo in the best ways.
