I know the post below is tongue in cheek but having worked with the folks putting on the Ignytes--- listen. You want to work with the folks putting on the Ignytes. Some of the best project managers I've ever worked with are L and Suzan and I learned so much from them on how to manage a project.

One thing I've learned from being friends with the organizers of a good convention is that a surprisingly high percentage of the nonsense that seems endemic to fandom can be stopped by a few individuals saying "nah, we are going to do things well instead." It's a choice! True in many fields of life.

We're run by 2 people. We ship trophies out of my dining room to all finalists + winners globally and we pronounce their names right in ceremony. We have kid jurors for the kidlit categories. We list full teams behind team nominations. We recognize community work. It's a lot of fun/shipping labels.
