The heat was umbearable, but the shopping still needed to be done. Armed with an umbrella, a shopping bag, and some extra coin for the markups, we ascended The Wet Steps. The cool spray from the waterfall was well worth the higher prices, though the goods were much the same as anywhere else.

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

When I made it to the front of the line, I didn't get a chance to order - the Ice Wizard just shoved a popsicle into my free hand & snatched the bill from the other. It was too hot out to care. The cool relief of the popsicle was enough to ignore the combination of lemon, cinnamon & ghost pepper.
