Writer about cars. Former science policy wonk. I’m what happens when you only have a finite number of monkeys typing in a room. PFP: my racing helmet, which is British racing green with a safety orange arrow design, inspired by the Porsche 908/3 gulf cars

I mostly like the interiors and the way they drive. The RWD 2 was very good on a windy road, and 4 has steering feel!

One thing rich people forget–or if they're heirs, never learned–is that life can deal you a bad hand & there's no option but to make the best of it & play it out anyway. Huge "I demand to speak to the manager" vibes here.

Tell me I'm wrong: A bunch of the media and donor class panicked, for good reason, after the debate. Made a big coordinated push to make Biden step aside. Didn't work, wounding pride of lots of big egos. Now too miffed to concede so stuck denying that Biden can win to justify continued aid to Trump.

#StarTrekProdigy #Spoilers

Did anyone catch the reference with the whale's name?

Gillian

That's the 20th Century scientist from #StarTrek IV who helped Kirk and crew take whales to the 23rd. One of the whales was pregnant. The implication is the whale named her baby after the human who helped her

And yet, New Yorkers have no one but themselves to blame. You could have voted for someone not obviously deranged. I’m sympathetic to the Hochul stuff because that’s being imposed from Albany, but NYC picked Adams.

Are cities for their actual residents, or for wealthy suburban business owners/political donors? With folks like Eric Adams & Providence's Brett Smiley, if journalists pretend not to know the answer, they're revealing they ALSO think they work for the latter.

Really don't want to have to post this every day: after watching pundits and political journalists at the NYT misunderstand and misrepresent infectious disease biology for the last four years, I'm not really eager to read their opinions about geriatric medicine.

yeah. and the ethical void here is just beyond description. like Petey Baker doesn't vote because that might indicate Political Bias but it's fine for the entire org to hound the president out of office in a fit of pique when the republic itself is literally on the line

Labour got slightly fewer votes than in 2019 (9.5 mn vs 10.2 mn), but picked up 213 seats. Same for the LibDems (3.5 mn votes vs 3.7mn in 2019), but picked up 63 seats. And Reform got 4mn votes, but just 4 seats. Seems very premature to talk of a remade electoral landscape outside Scotland.

The CW like 10 minutes ago - which I think was correct - was that the best Dem scenario is a "referendum" election about Trump. Focus on his criminal behavior and record. Hard to do that when BIDEN OLD drowns you out. Putting the Dem contenders onstage now to hash out their weaknesses? Insane idea!

It's pretty interesting what the media decides is front page news and what they don't decide is front page news! Trump being a child sex abuser with close connections to Jeffrey Epstein somehow doesn't merit the same coverage as "unnamed Dem insider has concerns about Biden's age"

Right. The far-right SCOTUS majority has decriminalized Nixon’s conduct in Watergate, Reagan’s conduct in Iran-Contra, and also effectively John Yoo’s conduct in DOJ’s signoff on torture. It isn’t unintentional.
