Tell me I'm wrong: A bunch of the media and donor class panicked, for good reason, after the debate. Made a big coordinated push to make Biden step aside. Didn't work, wounding pride of lots of big egos. Now too miffed to concede so stuck denying that Biden can win to justify continued aid to Trump.

Plausible, but I think you’re wrong. I think a bunch of the media and donor class panicked, and are still panicking. I don’t think those groups are reassured, for good reason. I don’t think they’re just trying to save face. I think everyone is still alarmed and not feeling good abt Biden’s chances.

Not *just* egos. There's a ton of juice to be had by reporters/pundits & money to be made by news media if they can birth a summer of Dems in disarray. They'll feed the media frenzy well. Also, both the donors & media face cards are used to being told they play a decisive role in electoral success.

Seems more than this. These quotes are coming from people in the WH, in the campaign, in the party, and in the family. Someone released the internal polling. Lots of people very close to him are talking. This seems more like an intra-party intervention through the media, not the other way around.

Donors maybe, but the media didn't panic. They've been waiting for an opportunity to wound Biden. Stable, competent governance is bad for ratings. They need the horserace until Nov and they want the chaos that Trump brings. They are the enemy.
