A ton of medical personnel - doctors, nurses, all types - got the fuck out of patient care or out of healthcare entirely after COVID too. Being treated like shit by admin and patients even more than normal plus PTSD has broken a lot of healthcare workers. (1/)

I’m a fan of the cut-resistant gloves personally since I’m clumsy. They’re great tools and can make quick work of a slicing job, just need to be careful.

And there’s his “defense” where he said essentially that his nanny was totally into getting sexual with him on her first day of work and also he claims she has some kind of health issue where she has false memories. Which is fucking yikes as a “defense” of behavior.

I saw someone else suggesting Stephen Miller. The “wish them luck” feels like Trump’s well-wishing for Ghislaine Maxwell before her trial though, but no random caps to indicate it’s TFG.

I get the wariness around the TERF connections associated with the initial reporting against Neil Gaiman. However, when *his own denials* include essentially claiming that his newly-hired nanny was totally into their sexual relationship starting on day 1 of being hired… 😬

What happens when people with the institutional power to fight evil people don’t fight is those without institutional power despair. You can blame desperate people for the suffering that’s coming their way, if you want, but doing so doesn’t distinguish you from fascists.

Israel publishes footage of bombing someone on a bicycle, calling him a PIJ operative.

Doctors Without Borders condemns the attack which killed Fadi and 5 other people including 3 children, while he was cycling to work near the clinic where he was providing care.

I’ve seen a place not far from where I live that has what looks like oversized Roombas that do their mowing - I haven’t been able to come up with a better joke name than “Lawn-ba” but I’m sure there are funnier alternatives. Making a bipedal robot is more to go wrong.

It would be super cool if the tech media would simply stop credulously repeating every value-juicing statement C-Suites make like they’re the in-house PR department. The only difference between these hollow promises and the guy crying, “The end is near!” on the street corner is funding.

Right? And fewer cars means fewer vehicles double parked into bike lanes and/or onto sidewalks. I’ve seen neighborhoods with multiple vehicles in driveways so one is parked over the sidewalk - that put up a barricade for anyone who needs (smaller-than-car) wheels to get around.

Thanks for Reggie Jackson for saying this, and contempt and defiance, in advance, to the worthless shitbirds who will say he shouldn’t have and that he oughta leave if he doesn’t like it.

Regrettably those worthless shitbirds are now fairly mainstream.

The amount of anti-bike hate I see among people claiming to be advocating for disability accessibility is insane. Not all disabilities are the same. And even if you aren’t riding a bicycle (conventional or electric), fewer cars and infrastructure supporting that will lead to other benefits overall.

I firmly believe that if acetaminophen/paracetamol (aka Tylenol) was developed today, it would not be available OTC. That shit’s in so many meds and can absolutely wreck your liver if you take too much, especially if you abuse alcohol.

Literally just got my copy delivered and I don’t see how someone could look at the resulting work and think that. Maybe they’d hate the concept, sure, but for me the best comparison is it’s like looking at some of Moebius’ art in terms of sheer alien-ness.

Also, I prefer “lie” to “hallucinate.” I know it’s not an intentional act but it hits harder than cute euphemisms. ““We have been very upfront that answers will not be accurate 100% of the time and may hallucinate,” Srinivas said in response to questions for the story we ran earlier this week[…]”

No gaming table means no big campaigns for me! For Northwood, Grove, Sagrada, A Gentle Rain are all pretty tiny in space. Final Girl is my most sprawling currently but I did get some card-holder racks to make it more compact. Thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks! Yeah I figured it was not the Normal Sort even for boardgames. For me it’s been: as a kid watch relatives play card games/Boggle/Scrabble, play family board games, play solitaire in college, (time passes) meet friends who like train games or wargames, see there is much more out there…

The West Hollywood Pride Parade this year had a rainbow-wrapped Cybertruck - I swear I saw at the time someone said that among the flags there was a law firm logo, either divorce or personal injury, but I can’t find the info.

I assume this is it. I’m new to boardgames, saw a dismissive mention and others said ‘have you seen any of the games from this designer?’ I had not, went and looked, then knew I wanted this game. And I’m so shit at these puzzles I assume I will never solve it and just be frustrated. Still worth it.

Prime example is Jennifer Grey. She got a nose job after Dirty Dancing, then needed a second one to fix a problem the first one caused and it was more drastic than she expected. She came out still beautiful but basically unrecognizable.
