I started painting last September, determined to spend time every day for a year, drawing and painting. On the left is one of my first paintings. The middle one is from May and the one on the right this week, and even though I can see the improvement in brush control and eye, I still love the first.

PictCon 1 is solvent! Enough tickets have been sold to pay for the venue and the guest.
A few more tickets and we can have [gasp] badges!
But I will now restrict reminders to monthly updates. Thank you all!
Tickets here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pictcon1-t...

Happy Juneteenth! Did you know that the U.S. government actually gave 1200 formerly enslaved people land, and then took it back when slavers complained enough? 12 years of Reconstruction with real change, before Jim
Crow. I can’t recommend this podcast more highly: revealnews.org/article/40-a...

One more reminder: Publisher's Marketplace will announce books from presses that receive grants, are connected to a source of wealth, or *put their crowdfunding under an imprint*.
Just not tiny presses who have to crowdfund to do bold work. #SupportBoldIndies

cosy mystery. Corinna is a baker and a retired accountant. Both are relevant. (I don't like the last book but the others are great).

Today's sketch. A friend of mine and posted with her permission, taken from a photo. Pastel on paper. She has the most gorgeous smile which I have failed to quite capture, so I'll give this one another go some time.
