if you want to do something concrete to help people who will be at risk during a Trump presidency, tutor refugees who are applying for citizenship. It's easy for you, it's like 6th grade civics. And extremely rewarding. I helped Somalis, Eritreans, Sudanese. Google "[your city] refugee services"

in my experience phrases like "PhD level thinking" are used by actual PhDs mainly in the sense of "well we have five graduate degrees between the three of us, and it only took us ten minutes to figure out how the hotel coffee maker works".

This person has a Ph.D. His intelligence has been the subject of much debate (I, myself, am skeptical). Just for an example. "Ph.D.-level intelligence" is a meaningless term that conflates a signifier of academic effort with whatever intelligence is.

ChatGPT already has “Ph.D.-level intelligence,” in that once you remove it from its extremely narrow field of expertise (assembling words into credible-sounding passages) it is wildly out of its depth, but people vastly overestimate its authority because they don’t understand what “intelligence” is.
