Why is Harris stepping in bad?
You find a successor to Biden w/o the disruptive primary people were asking for, which would have bypassed BOTH POTUS and VP. You get second best messager on abortion.
You get Biden's $$.
You lose the age question. Distance the Legend of Genocide Joe. And gain a wild card pick for VP -- as attack dog, media surrogate, or strategic bid for a key state or constituency.
Perhaps because of the somewhat reasonable and otherwise left leaning moderates who... Would never vote for a) a woman b) a Black woman for president.
It'd be Hillary 2.0 at the polls.
That's why.
You change the conversation, which is badly needed. And you short circuit quite a bit of the Gaza issue. I’m not her biggest fan but it’s the best path forward especially if she puts Whitmer or buttigieg as her vp
basically I just don’t think that switching tickets at this point is good, regardless, and I’m not thrilled with her as a candidate
as I’ve said elsewhere I think I’d probably pick “Biden steps down and Harris runs” as the least bad option right now, better than him staying in
