Today is an excellent day to remind all of you Americans that the Brazilian electoral court banned Bolsonaro from running in the next election within six months from his attempted insurrection. By now, 14 months later, he’s had his passport confiscated so he won’t escape from punishment.

The 14th Amendment is straightforward. I don't understand what needs to be interpreted.
Section three doesn't say he has to have participated in an insurrection. It says he is disqualified if he "Provides aid or comfort to" insurrectionists.
Trump is dangling pardons.
I live in a nominally blue state in the US, and I have seen pro-Bolsonaro bumper stickers in my town.
Considering the number of people I've run into here who probably couldn't find Brazil on a map, this is troubling.
It was found out this week that Biden managed to play a big role in stopping a coup in Brazil over this. Bolsonaro wanted to coup, US intelligence sniffed it out, and the government was able to stop it!
To be fair, this isn’t the first insurrection the US wimped out on punishing effectively.
Like, we turned one of their generals’ villas into a cemetery, but we didn’t hang enough of them to really secure victory & they’ve been wanting a second try for generations.
