I’m not going to be a dick and say a bunch of scene stuff. I will say that Green Day is punk to an extent. Good as well. Their sound is a little to clean for me at times, but good people. In the end no one can define you but you. Just in case you haven’t heard this band.

Those people are also discounting the authenticity of the entire East Bay scene Green Day was birthed out of. They were disavowed as sellouts when they signed to a major label but read Dan Ozzi’s book Sellout for background. I have always been fascinated by their connections to Rancid.
