While I won't say that "death of the author" is intrinsically bad or wrong or anything, I will say the number of times I've seen it used in an engaging or thoughtful way is far, far, far less than the number of times I've seen it used to avoid having to engage with or think about the work.

I would not be so bold as to make the claim that by wearing a mask I am somehow on the right side of history no, I am focused solely on the present, this is not about being on the right side of history it’s just that at this moment in history we are still in a pandemic.

Last year I did a full Mermay deal with lore and everything for patrons. Here are snippets from that ;)

From the notes of Nsuo: "I’ve recently come into possession of a curious little artifact. To think, of all the places I’d find the little relic in Zanza so far from the sea". #mermay

The only people I know who never stopped masking are me, my partner, and my dad. We're also the only people I know who haven't had covid. Hell, none of us have even had a cold since 2019. Not getting sick multiple times per year has been pretty fantastic, actually.

I dunno if you’re a university and you’re brutalising students rather than divesting from genocide it feels like your business isn’t educating people it’s investing in genocide.

I'm working on new #Ha-Nahn art and stories (the real name of the place has the hyphen but I couldn't do it in tags until now). Also working on adding a section about it to my website. Check back here for when that happens.

Remember: we have had years to prepare ourselves for the next pandemic. Have we prepared ourselves for the next pandemic? No, we have not prepared ourselves for the next pandemic but we have had years.

In #Ha-Nahn it is said that life sustaining salt comes from the south, gold to exalt life comes from the forests of the north, but wisdom and the treasures of a good life? Those are found most abundantly in Atlea.

Yeah, that definitely sounds familiar. Like you have lower energy reserves to begin with, everything costs more energy than it is supposed to, and sleeping doesn't necessarily refill your reserves.

When trouble looms in Ha-Nahn some of the first people to notice are the border scouts. Comfortable in the saddle or on foot they are the eyes of the continent and indespensible to politician and mage alike.

Another advocacy win! After pushback from disability and Long COVID advocates, the Census Bureau halted survey changes that would artificially reduce disability numbers by 40%, and limit access to resources for housing, schools, program benefits etc.

Should they react to your precautions by suggesting that you are not living your life by suggesting that you are not really living your life explain gently but firmly that you are living your life you are really living your life it’s just that you are doing so during a pandemic.

Flummoxed the headline asked “Why are so many Americans still dying of COVID?” and though this is certainly a complicated question it would seem that the main answer is: because the pandemic has not ended.

It's horrible antivaxxers are causing more measles outbreaks. But governments are also complicit. When you've spent years normalizing mass infection for COVID, you shouldn't be surprised when more people take a "you do you" anti-public health attitude towards other diseases too.

According to the latest CDC COVID-19 wastewater data, we are currently in the second-biggest surge of the pandemic. It will peak in the next week, with ~2 million infections per day. During this surge, ~100 million people total (~1 in 3 people in the US) will likely get COVID.

You do understand the government should be supplying public health info we shouldn't have to rely on trading tips on social media for safety, tracking the sewage independently, measuring how much cold medicine is on the shelf or reading scented candle reviews? Ok just so we know that.
