I used to work loss prevention like a decade ago and stopping someone can turn real bad real quick. They say not to for insurance reasons but honestly nobody is getting paid enough to risk violence over this shit.

That used to upset me a lot until I realize that when it comes to being able to make decisions, it's better to acquire power 1st and then knowledge later. No one is going to listen to the smartest person in the room, but they sure as hell are gonna listen to the boss. Took me nearly 40 yrs to learn

Walgreens employees have told me they have a massive shoplifting problem (there are many socioeconomic reasons for this, of course) & staff are barred from physically preventing it. Ergo, some store managers may be opting for the lockup route. It's annoying, for sure

Home ownership is so nightmarish in terms of the freak stuff that happens. Last night I discovered the drop ceiling tile above my home office was leaking all over my desk bc I forgot to turn off the whole house humidifier & the excess moisture was condensing onto the A/C ducting above the tile. Ugh
