Jugaad Hindi/Urdu word meaning a fix or solution you come up with on the fly, usually low cost, to make a thing work. Also stands for how a temp fix is simply used permanently till it breaks and then a new jugaad is devised. India is a nation built on jugaad

I've complained about this before but I didn't know about the comment process until I became a reporter. And I think it's an indictment of political reporting about how rarely they will reference potential regulations without 1. linking to the federal register 2. mentioning public comments

Cholera vaccinations have been going up, even as we're experiencing shortages. While I'm usually 1000% stoked for hearing about people wanting to be vaccinated, in the cae of cholera, w/o infrastructure fixes, we could just be protecting elites. #WASH #sanitation

reactionaries sell “housewife” as an aspirational lifestyle choice, but the people selling it, from TikTokers to senators, are by definition not housewives. that’s because what they’re really endorsing isn’t being a housewife per se, it’s the subjugation of women within the household

Just read in UC Riverside alum mag that one of my creative writing profs passed away. Dwight Yates was so gentle and and warm in nudging students on our writing paths. He said in fiction workshop: "No fraternity or werewolf stories. I've read too many." Pause. "Now a werewolf fraternity story..."

I'm really sorry to hear this, and I really hope things improve. At least in the state I work in, you should be able to report to a local or state agency. In Denver (sorry, my only reference), it's the Department of Public Health and Environment.
