Was working on a text and laboriously typed "Siouxsie and the Banshees" only to watch helplessly as autocorrect changed "Siouxsie" to "Susie" and all of a sudden I want to burn all of Silicon Valley to the ground. That's not an overreaction is it?

The autocorrect has gotten so stupid and dumb that I recently turned it off in Chrome. I do think it's gotten more aggressive lately. Also I'm more aggressive lately.

Because they presume to tell all Consumer America what to message about? I think they only pre-load "techbro-approved" music/TV/film spellings, and they update autocorrect from their end with any major sci-fi release. Not sure why they'd skip Siouxsie & genre, though—there must be fans in tech.

No. I've seen autocorrect break my perfectly-sensible texts right as I'm hitting 'send' by turning what I said, and what IT TRANSCRIBED, into gibberish. I am to the point where when I type it by hand, I will leaave any typos I make so it's clear that a person wrote this.

Turn off autocorrect and autosuggest and remove that source of angst from your life. As a bonus it doesn't take long to re-learn how to spell, and it's a trip down memory lane having to remember things like "i before e except after c but only on days ending in y".
