You can ask me specific craft questions, submission questions, how to stay motivated questions. This will be about you. I'm looking forward to it!

Still time to sign up. Going to be a nice small class (so far). What that means (currently) is if you sign up, you get to really pick my brain! Seriously come with questions. After my talk we're going to analyze stories/do exercises and talk about your writing ?s

Our shower is sinfully big, so there's room for a big bench; room enough for two people to shower together, or for an assistant to help if necessary. We don't plan to need that, but we also don't plan to have to move if we do need that later.

Handrails! Grab bars! Good lighting! Useful for temporarily able bodied people as well.

I have a Moen shower bench, which is not in the shower. It's attached to the wall by our back door stairs, so I have a place to sit down and change from my outdoor shoes to my indoor shoes. That space is too small for a regular bench, but the fold-up shower bench works well there.

Stuff I use to make life easier while my legs don't work the way I want them to*:
Asia Ascend teak shower bench. It is not cold or slippery or ugly, all of which were features of the plastic and metal bath chair I used earlier.
*An undefined time period, possibly the rest of life. Who knows?

Between episodes of THE GOOD PLACE today, I realized that the foundational text I rely on for my moral, ethical, philosophical, and spiritual understanding of human existence is not, as I had always believed, Plato's REPUBLIC, but Dr. Seuss's HORTON HATCHES THE EGG.

I do that all the time, too.
Am currently rewatching the entire series of THE GOOD PLACE and taking notes on which recommended books I haven't read yet.

To be excruciatingly accurate, I met @fullycaffeinated.bsky.social in the 80s rather than the 70s, and in person rather than via paper fanzines. @kipwilliams.bsky.social is the person I've known through the most communication vehicles: APAs, in person (once!), Usenet, LiveJournal, Twitter, and here.

I'm still in touch with people from high school and even one from grade school, despite never, ever joining Facebook, which is the normal way to get back in touch with people from the distant past. One of the many things I like about these casual but long-term relationships is the way they persist.

I still communicate with people I met via Usenet (waves at @lucykemnitzer.bsky.social & @radlein.bsky.social), some I met via paper fanzines in the 70s (waves at @kipwilliams.bsky.social & @fullycaffeinated.bsky.social) & some I met in person via, you know, life (waves at @walterolson.bsky.social).

Had a check-up today. I'm now officially a five-year endometrial cancer survivor. Celebrate, celebrate!
PSA: if you're post-menopausal and experience vaginal bleeding, even just a spot or two, get yourself to the doctor right away. This is a very survivable cancer if caught and treated early.

Outside, in a tree (a particular maple tree at the back of the woods, to be precise), was my favorite place to read, in part because I was harder to find there until the rest of my family realized that was where I would be.

I may have overdone tomatoes this year as well, but on a much more restrained level: one extra tomato plant.

We've bought five Mieles, which seems like a lot until I add that three of them were housewarming gifts for close relatives and one was to replace the first one after more than twenty years. That first one still worked, but part of the plastic cover was broken, so it no longer looked great.

They haven't seemed hard to clean to me, but maybe I don't have a high enough standard, or haven't had challenging enough dirt. I just wipe them off with a damp washcloth.

I have vertical bars on each side of my shower and hold on to them with both hands while the water pours down on me. My grab bars have some texture so I don't slide down them. I have balance issues, but am able to stand.
I have additional grab handles on my shower seat. I am rich in things to grab!

I am not the person for them, but those dollhouse miniatures are amazing! They should find their people.
My mother would have loved them, and they would have gone beautifully in her Victorian dollhouse.
