This below is a decent response too. I honestly think any Dem can beat Trump because half the country already hates that rat bastard. But not if we keep floundering in quintessentially-Dem ways about our own candidate.

I'm inclined to agree. It's entirely possible that a non-RFK fresh choice, even Harris, will galvanize all the folks who don't want to see Biden v Trump again. But incumbency has a lot of advantages too, and we'd be throwing those away. Either way, pick a lane and stop publicly bedwetting.

We need to get it sorted before then, because if we are switching horses mid-stream, the DNC needs to be a well-planned Harris commercial. Chaos at the convention will not help.

This. I think getting rid of Biden now is dumb but I also don't care that much - everybody knows how they feel about Trump anyway. But this constant "The Democrats!" "we hate ourselves and can't govern" strategy will kill us either way. Keep Joe or get Kamala, but decide soon and stop dithering.

As some who writes op-eds for a living, it's grimly funny to me that this issue has been reawakened today mainly because the Clooney/Welch op-eds finally got published, even though both were almost assuredly written last week, before Biden said "nah, I'm staying."
