Again, none of this makes sense unless you accept my theory that nothing makes Greg Abbott happier than someone dying as a result of his policies.

The last two times I’ve driven down Boca Chica Blvd to work at Stargate they were putting up huge power poles. I was told they were temporary and would be replaced by even bigger ones.

Abbott doesn't think about anyone who isn't contributing to his coffers.

If nobody dies because of your decisions, then people will not be able to say that you “made some tough calls” as governor.

I think his main motivation is the ongoing "who's the most despicable person" contest with DeSantis and other gop governors. That's not to say he doesn't enjoy causing death and suffering, of course.

Is that nihilism or misanthropy? I mean, sure, it's outright sociopathic, but it feels like he either thinks we all should die OR everyone is going to die so who cares who dies now? Is there another word for that view?

As someone from the South, I don't *want* to say that people in Texas are getting what they deserve for keeping Abbott in office... ... but they are the ones who put him there and let him stay there, in spite of his massive failures as a chief executive.

My cousins have lived in Houston for 40+ years. They told me last weekend they are (finally) ready to move because they’ve just given up any hope of Texas changing. They have adult children who refuse to visit them in Texas. I suppose Abbott loves it that 2 liberals are ready to leave.
