I know, who cares, but in the slasher movies that define what most people think of as horror, then sure, it's funny if the asshole jock gets his dick cut off. But in movies like Midsommar the characters have interiority, so we are meant to recognize that, which makes it harder to wish them tortured.

I think that tension is what makes Aster's work so fun. He's not as arch as Tarantino or whatever Ty West is trying to do, but he's clearly playing with those expectations.
. . . I should watch Beau is Afraid, huh?

If Midsommar happened to me I would simply be a more empathetic boyfriend and still be killed in a perhaps different way.

He deserves it in so far as he is in a horror movie and it's fun to say he deserved it in the same way somebody who stole my parking space at the mall deserves to be executed.

Very cool and fun to play phone tag with my former employer about where my final check it. Very cool that I have to threaten getting the Laboe Board involved because they couldn't have one conversation with me after six years of employment.

WTF. The electric company in Texas doesn't have a map of outages so people have been using the Whataburger App to figure out who lost power.
This is like when Homer was using the Krusty Burger map when they got lost at sea.

Older couple at the store about 6-7m before opening. The automatic doors don't open for them so they start prying them open. It's so fascinating how many different types of people there are

The next challenge isn't just limiting climate change, but helping people adjust to/survive its impacts on daily life. Does anyone trust the GOP to do that?

Kind of crazy there is a movie about American exceptionalism winning the that is not only *not* an embarassing mess, but actually rules.

Not everyone has gotten that the piece I wrote below is satire. It is, intended to convey how the media would cover Biden denying connections with his closest aides.
But the reality is that when Trump does it, it barely merits a mention. NYT front page is all Biden. Trump's lies not covered.

If you paid attention to Trump's side of the debate, he had the same underlying problem Biden did, where over and over he would start a sentence and realize he couldn't say or remember the words that would come next, but where Biden stalled out, Trump just switched to blurting something unrelated

Kind of weird there's a drink you can buy called the Black and Tan. It'd be like if there's a drink called the Stormtrooper or the Contra Death Squad.
