the closest to a vaguely almost truth-like fragment is that, yeah, a lot of his most fervent supporters apparently hate every one of his major policies and *should*

Starmer's Labour is centre-right and won on a shit turnout and lowest overall vote count in several election cycles, so it's not actually that far off the feeling over here in the UK.

Labour didn't win because it was popular. It won because the British public was so sick and tired of the Tories. In fact, Labour received fewer votes in 2024 than in 2020. Reform unfortunately did twice better as expected. Things are good, for now. We can only hope they stay that way.

Tories, 2019: 43.6% of the vote Labour, 2024: 33.7% of the vote So yeah, it kind of feels like not a real landslide. Goddamn the New York Times for noticing.

It's weird too because they don't think leftists are real people with valid opinions and he's mainly being criticized from the left. The far left compared to the Times.

This is honestly the most accurate take they've had for years. A new record low turnout (beating Blair 2001 who beat Blair 1997). On paper, this is just like 1997. Landslide after a long toxic Tory rule. But there is not the dancing in the streets because ... well, most of us remember Blair.
