It's wild that Trump has been more disciplined at staying off of Twitter than 98 per cent of journalists.

My impression from the debate was Biden was at his best/least-bad when he was angry about Trump. Focusing on doing that as much as possible (be it Biden or Harris that delivers the message) would be really, really good.

As best I can tell, anytime Trump gets himself in the news that normies consume, people remember how much they hate him and his voting intention numbers sink (or Biden's rise). Making the DNC all about Trump would be a good idea. Making it all horse-racw between a bunch of governors seems less so?

NYT says their performance on Threads today was an aberration, & not indicative of deeper problems they've had with social media. Unfortunately, that hasn't satisfied many observers whose concerns are growing louder. The stakes are too high. For the good of the news, the Times should step aside

"Biden stepped down so late. Does that indicate a lack of confidence in your ability to lead, or even win this election?" And, anytime they run out of questions, it'll be: "Do you think Biden should have stepped down sooner?"

I follow a couple accounts that post and repost a lot, so it's honestly not that empty for me? I feel like it's a good opportunity to branch out a little and follow some accounts you wouldn't otherwise (probably by scrolling the Discover feed and seeing what resonates)!

Obviously they shouldn't delete the records until they've mailed every debtor a letter, signed by Joe Biden, explaining that he's forgiven their debt "despite what the corrupt Republican Supreme Court says", and asking them to write back and tell him what they'll spend their money on now

It'd be a broadly popular move, and Biden could have a moment where he leans into a microphone and says something like "What happened to your $10k student loan debt? Guess Sleepy Joe just forgot about it."

Thinking of other @mtsw.bsky.social style trolling Biden could do with the immunity decision. Could he instruct his Education Secretary to just erase all student loans and delete the files, then pardon the Secretary and staff?

throughout the Trump immunity decision, the Court champions the idea of an unfettered, uninhibited President. the darkest part of the opinion isn’t that it paves the way for an authoritarian leader, it’s that it yearns for one

I'm guessing most of these people hate Harris because she's a Black woman who's proximate to power. Which explains why they like Michelle Obama: her husband's no longer the sitting president and, as Bouie's pointed out, she's not seeking office.

Seems like everyone suggesting Michelle Obama is doing so because they need to not appear racist after saying Harris should step aside for (waves hand) unlikeableness, but none of them can think of any other Black women. Kind of damning.

They get to say "I told you so" so rarely. If Biden loses on election night, they'll get to say it again, and if he wins, well, this victory lap will be carefully swept under the rug

A major factor in the panic we're seeing from the Times et al regarding Biden right now is that reporters and pundits who made Biden's age a key factor in the first place, rightly it wrongly, are now taking a victory lap

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.

If Congressional Democrats aren't going to start doing show trials looking into Supreme Court corruption and bad jurisprudence, is there anything Biden can do? Form a Presidential Commission on Judicial Misconduct with televised hearings, perhaps?

if Biden wants to stay in the race he needs to do this. Just flood the zone with media appearences and get people used to stammering old guy Biden as something that's normal (or ideally a better version where he's not stammering old guy). Hiding out won't work.

Nothing against @caseynewton.bsky.social's work here. I'm just pretty sure at this point that none of the solutions OpenAI is suggesting (or technical solutions in general) will pan out, and really OpenAI is just proposing them as a way of deflecting real, workable action (whatever that might be)

Same deal with newer Star Trek. Discovery's Harry Mudd episodes and the recent time bug episode stand out, while a lot of the serialised overarching story episodes do not. Strange New Worlds mostly works *because* most of the episodes are self-contained.

We've seen places like Defector, Dropout, 404, Aftermath work and we were heartened by it. Media can work, but you can't expect it to be this infinite growth nightmare, and these places proved it. We're gonna use those good lessons and apply them here, lucky to already have a thing people love.
