I feel like the issue is, there are entirely too many left-leaning voters who would rather be "smart" than be pragmatic, and you can by their idiocy during high-stakes discussions. Meanwhile, we should all be looking at how midwest Dems keep winning & taking some notes.

Democrats have to fall in love; Republicans only have to fall in line. (You'd think eventually Democrat politicians and voters would notice.)

I'm old enough to remember when news outlets weren't required to turn as much profit as entertainment, & so could pay beat reporters with actual expertise to spend a long time working on informative pieces. Hot takes are so much cheaper.

Re-reading Renata Adler's takedown of Bob Woodward and Scott Armstrong's book on the Supreme Court, "The Brethren" and her passage below stopped me short:

Just like none of the bold investigators backfilling Joe Biden's feeble debate performance with punchy anonymous quotes have ever figured out why Trump was rushed to Walter Reed, claimed he wanted a spur-of-the-moment weekend checkup, and a year later declared that he had NOT had a series of strokes

As a lawyer who worked in mass tort cases resulting from unsafe products, I would agree. Remember asbestos industry was unregulated, yet knowingly churned out unsafe. Old movies like Civil Action, The Insider, Erin Brockovich.. provide good examples why regulations and oversight needed.

I feel like so long as we're making presidents god-kings, now is the time for Biden to abolish the Electoral College and expand the Supreme Court. Why not? Nothing he does as president is a crime now!

There's nothing stopping the current president from expanding the Supreme Court to 13 justices, right? One for each district? It's all totally legit since that same court has decided presidents don't do crimes, right?

Another thing Dell may have to be mindful of: WFH tends to benefit historically disadvantaged ppl -- disabled, queer, non-white, women, parents. If Dell is tying its compensation & promotion opportunities to in-office people only, are they perpetuating bias on some level?

There's research on this too! American workers have started thinking of commuting as time they deserve to be *compensated for*, instead of the cost of being employed. Employers already tie compensation to location; it'll be interesting to see how it gets tied to commuting & whether that takes off.

We have so much research demonstrating that a) American workers prize control over their time, b) work-life balance matters to the American workforce, and c) employee engagement gains do not appreciably grow after 3 days a week in office. The outcome to Dell's edict was predictable.

The Overton window on bias in AI training data & training models will be moved to "expecting factual accuracy or non-discriminatory outcomes in AI is 'political'" & the highest priority in AI will not be outcomes based on provable, objective facts, but whatever boosts "engagement" and upsell.
