The Biden team seems to trust him to speak with a teleprompter. They don't seem to trust him to speak without one. I'd bet they're right: he can't be trusted to speak coherently in public without a teleprompter. I don't think you can come from behind in a presidential campaign with that handicap.

I think it's more that he can't reliably memorize and regurgitate a lot of facts. He did a long, unscripted interview on camera with Howard Stern and had no problem.

Max, this has always been true to some extent. Biden is famous for his “gaffs.” When someone on his team is willing to go on the record publicly, I’ll believe it. Until then I have a hard time trusting anyone who won’t put their country before their job.
