the extent of ashley's anti-alien prejudice was saying "hey, you know you're the boss and i'll support whatever you want, but should we be showing the top secret stealth vessel to everyone who walks in off the presidium?". then in me2 she gets really mad at you for joining the klan

OH my god YES. It annoys me so much when people dismiss her as a space racist. Granted, it's Bioware's fault for hiding all the relevant information, but humanity had just made first contact 30 years earlier, and it resulted in surrender. Her grandpa was the guy that surrendered, and people knew it.
