The Lancet conservatively estimates that the death toll in Gaza could be 186,000 or more. 8% of the population. This is edging towards decimation. A belated call for a ceasefire isn't enough. We need to stop supply of arms.

Update: The mugginess has lifted. Help is on the way. I’ve only “lost” about an hour, and it was a reasonably pleasant one. And I haven’t wet myself. Yet.

I’ve checked out the options for breaking in and none of them are worth the trouble—not to mention that the neighbors have already had more than their share of spectacle for the day, and we have had more than enough in the way of visitation from the state.

Thanks! The weather really is nice at this hour, given the baseline of a hot muggy day. Of course, I’m not making any progress on either my Swedish deadline or my packing for a month away from home. Do not vote for me for president.

So I’m spending more time than usual in the front yard today, and it’s generally quite pleasant – except for the part of the morning that involved being barefoot, handcuffed, and wearing only boxer shorts for about an hour, and the part of the evening part that has me locked out of the house.
