“ah, there is a mass mobilization taking place of sincere, angry, average people who are not as cool and sophisticated as I believe myself to be: instead of seizing this moment to organize for the left, I will instead spend the next decade making fun of their hats.”

Parking costs are already intimidating, so I can totally see persecuting honest mistakes as adding a real sense of injustice to that scenario. Anytime I try show a friend around [city I live in], who can't just stay at mine and walk in and back, I find myself glad I don't drive in the first place...

Not that I've ever heard any of its singles on the radio, to see where they cut them for time. Before my era.

I was going to say that's only a little bit longer than the opening track (love this album), but then I realised you could cut that for time a bit easier by comparison of where its structurally important elements are.

Basically all of these work on me, I generally love a classic 🤷
Also, I can't imagine why people would listen to The Eagles sing about their love lives instead of a metaphorical horror hotel in the desert, when they've proven to have very little of interest to say about the former.

Occasionally I search for ways to upgrade or repurpose old technology. The answer is always "yeah, it *was* possible to install really great custom software, but the manufacturer recently issued an update to stop that".

I want to say something about child development and conservatives not getting that you can't expect a friggin' toddler to understand complex social rules like polite behavior at a restaurant, but the thing is I think they do understand and the real lesson is "I could hit you at any moment."

unfortunately had to slap my youngest child, hyperion dipshit, in the target parking lot today after he failed to show proper respect to a cybertruck. before you call that abuse, just ask my other children, aryan chlamydia and maximus trifecta what they think

If you are desperate for something to do right now in support of Palestine, remember this list of vetted crowdfunds to help Palestinians escape the violence of genocide.

Hoping to go viral so your project takes off is just. Pure nonsense. I've gone viral so many times and it never does what you think it will. You can't count on it. It's random.
Also a lot of times it's purely awful

Is this true of every era, or it is more prominent in certain ones (wrt a conflict between primary and retrospective sources, and the people telling the story from scholarship vs. experience)?

Well-intentioned people tend to latch onto zeitgeisty moments to define eras, Mccarthyism in the 50s, punk in the 70s, nuclear panic in the 80s, but how does that connect with the lived experience of people of every age/class around the world? Ultimately it's an impossible task.
