I need to write the whole piece about this, but the thing to understand is that the NYT is now just Facebook. The platform dictates narrative to normies, is totally gamed by the right, and is still so ubiquitous as to be unavoidable even by those who see how broken it is. It's just Facebook.

In a two party system, you choose the best of your available options. It's really quite simple. Choose Biden over Trump or choose Trump over Biden. Getting butthurt and thinking all sides are bad, just means your are not exercising your right to be thoughtful and rational and to make good decisions.

Perhaps you don't know how choice works. If you have a choice between carrot or lemon cake and you get butthurt because chocolate is your favorite, then you lose. You don't get to pick your favorite cake; and because you throw a tantrum, you don't get to a say about what future cakes get made.

Finally read this. The context for the slur makes it entirely believable. But the rest is just as awful. NBC knowingly resurrected a washed up, racist, misogynist, parasitic con man, and presented him to the country as a brilliant, cutting-edge businessman. It felt dirty just reading it.

Well, it is a lot of momentum but a ship is not a perfectly rigid object, so it's not a single, instantaneous transfer of catastrophic energy. Ships crumple. That momentum gets dispersed over time and space. I'm willing to believe (take it on faith in engineers) that big dolphins can stop big ships
